  • When I had dogs(chihuahuas).  I use to feed then 3  meals a day.

  • Mine are at will fed.
    However If there is beef or chicken broth left over or tasty bit I will put a small amount of "dinner"

    They also know that treats are in th closet and they get them sometime after dinner. If one of us says closet they run to it. If tthey think treats are being withheld or to late the look deeply into our eyes and glance at the closet and back and on and on until we "get it"
    You should see them when we say should I go to the closet now?

  • The cats always have their kibble out to snack on.. every other night, they split a can of wet food.

  • They always have dry dog food available.
    They get "treats" ( milk bones) every morning when the last person leaves for work, and as special rewards. They also get rawhide chews all of the time.
