SO: my sick kid question. Fever equals no school?

He seems to be feeling better and I haven't heard him cough much since he woke up earlier in the day, but he still has a slight fever.

So no school tomorrow right?
Which is fine for me but he wants to go lol He didn't want to stay home today!

  • I've always stuck to the no school for 24 hrs after fever rule for ds, specifically because he's had issues with ear infections. Fever breaks, he seems ok the next morning, and by the end of the day he's crying in pain. The ear pain never starts until a few days after the fever starts.

  • No keep him home until he is 24 hours without fever.

  • Fever needs to be under 100 for 24 hours without meds... per CDC guidelines. So yup.... fever ='s no school... even if they are acting like they feel better!!

  • Yep. No school if you have a fever within 24 hours. I always follow that rule. I don't think it is worth getting all the other kids sick.

  • Our school policy is fever free for 24 hours. A fever being anything above 99.9

  • yeah we are staying home for sure...he has gotten worse... Poor kid keeps saying "I have never been this sick!"...he rarely gets sick so he is probably right.

  • Our school policy is less than 100 for 24 hours or they cannot return to school.
