Boy Scout troop leaders decide to destroy 200 million year old rock formation in state park

After the fact, they claim it was their "civic duty".  They'll be facing felony charges for it.  Watch their own video (which they proudly posted online):

That look like civic duty to you?

  • I have nothing nice to I'll be quiet

  • You were hoping the rock would land on him, too?

  • I can not hear it tonight as DH is sleeping and it would wake him.
I did watch and am horrified. One of the major tenants of Boy Scouts is to preserve nature and to leave it better (less contaminated by man) than it was before being there. I hope they are thrown out of Boys Scouts immediately and I will be sending this link to national in the morning.
This looks to be 3 or maybe 4 people. I am really angry right now.

  • That has to be the biggest act of douchebaggery I have seen in a while. I hope they get the book thrown at them.

  • Dard- the thinking (or lack of it) was that they were saving kids from being killed by it falling on them

Answer by charlotsomtimes at 11:32 PM on Oct. 17, 2013

  • Civic Duty my ass.

Answer by Rosehawk at 11:35 PM on Oct. 17, 2013

  • It's vandalism, plain and simple, and they tried to justify it with their excuses about not wanting kids to be killed when the rock fell on them. I hope they face every possible felony charge the prosecutors can scrape up.

  • yeah they sound a little too excited to be doing just "their civic duty"...part of me wonders if they'd been drinking simply b/c they sound so stupid. i wouldnt let these morons continue leading boy scouts if this is their version of a good idea.
