Can I run with osteoarthritis?

I am obese but losing (I've lost 65 pounds so fast). I walk every day. Is like to start running, too, but I have arthritis in my hips and knees.

  • Great job losing weight. You really should talk to your doctor before you begin a running regimen because you want to make sure you won't worsen your hip and knee problems. What about something that isn't so high impact, like swimming?

  • Keep walking! You can run... It's all about pain tolerance. If it hurts don't do it, simple as that. But low impact is better for your joints.
