If a woman does not want to have the child that she gets pregnant with she can have an abortion or give the child up for adoption and that is fine, but if a man does not want to have the child that he helped create he is a dead beat dad.
What is with the double standard here?

He didn't have to play between the sheets either. That is a consequence of his actions. As if abortion and / or giving a child up for adoption doesn't come with it's own set of consequences.
A good rule of thumb is, if you can't afford to take care of a child and if you aren't wanting to get pregnant and make serious decisions about your future, don't have sex. It really isn't that complicated.

Not really. If a woman applies for medicaid or foodstamps for that child, they don't care who signed what, the state will go after him.
it still goes back to not having sex if you're not prepared for the consequences of it.

BTW, giving up rights and an order to pay child support are two different things. A parent can willingly give up rights to the child, but said parent will still be held financially responsible as long as no other person is willing to adopt the child. Visitation and support orders are separate.
