Why the double standards?

If a woman does not want to have the child that she gets pregnant with she can have an abortion or give the child up for adoption and that is fine, but if a man does not want to have the child that he helped create he is a dead beat dad.

What is with the double standard here?

  • Because he doesn't have to carry the kid for 9 months and give birth. All he has to do is stick it in without stopping to put a condom on. If he doesn't want a kid he shouldn't stick it in. Period.

  • a man can sign his rights away if he doesn't want to support the child he helped create. and if a man doesn't want a child he shouldn't be participating in acts that create children.

  • He didn't have to play between the sheets either. That is a consequence of his actions. As if abortion and / or giving a child up for adoption doesn't come with it's own set of consequences.

A good rule of thumb is, if you can't afford to take care of a child and if you aren't wanting to get pregnant and make serious decisions about your future, don't have sex. It really isn't that complicated.

Not really. If a woman applies for medicaid or foodstamps for that child, they don't care who signed what, the state will go after him.

And that really should apply both ways, but it doesn't. Of course, a lot of these situations would be avoided if people viewed sex as more of a responsibility and less of a right. Say, learn the other person's last name before fucking them would be a good start...

  • Why don't people just use a condom, forget about a baby, perhaps they should want to avoid dying?
I think if a man is stupid enough to have sex with someone, who say's "Don't worry I am on the pill" and thinks that is okay he should have to support the child forever.

it still goes back to not having sex if you're not prepared for the consequences of it.

  • The man can give up his parental rights can't he?
Or don't have sex or at least protect himself. Sence he has no way of knowing the female is lying to him or not. Men have options. Most don't use them.

  • BTW, giving up rights and an order to pay child support are two different things. A parent can willingly give up rights to the child, but said parent will still be held financially responsible as long as no other person is willing to adopt the child. Visitation and support orders are separate.
