How do you do dinner on halloween?

and what do you cook?

usually i do tacos and cook at the normal time. but then i feel like im scrambling to get them ready afterward and have a ton to clean up on top of it.

this year im thinking of doing breakfast, and maybe cooking around 4-4:30 so we have a nice window of time to get ready. now that they're older they get the fake hair/hair color/make up and all that jazz so it takes a little longer.

  • We are having hot dogs, so the kids will eat around 4:30 or 5. DH and I are going to have the Mexican quinoa salad I made yesterday.

  • Oyster stew - a tradition from when I was a child. Filling and warm, but not so filling we didn't have room for some candy later!

  • Porcupine meatballs in the slow cooker, sticky rice, salad ready to go in the fridge. We eat when we get back from trick or treating, and everything is basically ready for us when we get home.

  • I ordered a family meal from Bob Evans. Country fried steak, mashed potatoes, carrots and a pumpkin pie. There's a coupon for 10% off that expires today on retailmenot.

  • Tonight, DS probably won't have a real dinner. They had a party, so he filled up on stuff at that, plus they still had their afternoon snack. He even brought extras home. If he eats at all it will be when we get home, so DH and I will wing it whenever we're hungry.

  • Since we don't trick or treat we eat dinner (always chili on Halloween) at our normal time. Maybe a little late tonight because I had to promise to give DS a candy apple to get him to finish his homework so our party could start!

  • We don't have any specific dinner, we just go for quick and easy. This year, we're having Subway. We eat before we go trick or treating because otherwise, my kids will not eat any dinner, and as much as they might hate me for it, I insist they have a real meal before the try to gorge on all that candy. lol
