I made Teriyaki Noodle Bowls.. What??

What makes it so spicy? It is the Ginger???

Teriyaki Sauce
¼ cup soy sauce
2 Tbsp rice vinegar
2 Tbsp brown sugar
¼ tsp toasted sesame oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 inches fresh ginger, grated
pinch red pepper flakes
1 Tbsp cornstarch
2 Tbsp water

I left out the red pepper flakes... It's still so darn spicy.

  • I would guess the ginger. Or it could be the garlic if you didn't cook it long enough. Two inches of ginger seems like a lot to me.

  • I didn't use fresh, I used powder that I bought at the Asian Market. I love it otherwise.... Next time, I'll leave that out and see...

  • Ginger is spicy to my tongue tips. My mother in law eats it raw. Most Liechensteiners do too.
