What age did you start using conditioner in your child's hair?

DD's hair is super fine and unmanageable, a trait she got from me. It tangles easily but detangler only makes it look greasy and it makes it sticky. I want to start using conditioner but I am nervous about her getting it in her eyes.

  • I used suave kids 2 in 1 for a long time. I didn't start using separate conditioner until around the time they were washing their own hair - 8 or so.

  • Put a visor on her. The water will flow to the sides and back

  • I've always used the kid's 2 in 1 as long as they've had enough hair to wash with more than baby shampoo.

  • Lol she is 3 with a ton of hair and I am still just using baby shampoo. I think it's time to change that though.

  • That's about the age I started. Maybe earlier. It was later before I used the separate stuff. My daughters have my thick hair.

  • I started using the 2-in-1 around then, but started adding a leave-in conditioner (Neutrogena makes a nice one) on top of that after her hair got a bit longer.

  • We have never cut my son's hair (5 yo) so it's really long down to his bottom. I started using conditioner when he was about 3. I told him to close his eyes tight and was very careful to only use a little so that it wouldn't drip into his eyes.

  • They used to make kid's conditioner. Try that? Or a shampoo /conditioner in one?
