So my son having outerwear for all types of weather is a weird thing??

When I dropped my son off yesterday, his teacher's aide commented that he was "like a girl with all his different jackets"
He has a nylon one for spring, a medium weight one for fall, and his heavy winter coat.
How is that strange?

  • It's called being prepared. What's wrong with that? At least your child has a jacket. I've seen way too many kids walking to & from school with no jacket or just a thin hoodie. When did it become cool to be cold?

  • Why should she donate anything? He has a jacket for all seasons, get off your high horse.

  • Like a girl?

What a comment gone wrong there. Those thoughts stay in the head!!!

J do NOT think 3 coats is too many? I have more than 3.

  • I don't think she meant it as him being weird...

  • I think I would have told her that I hope she wasn't teaching a lesson in RUDE this semester.

  • Seriously, it's a stupid comment on her part. Then again, people are rude and ignorant. I probably wouldn't even validate her statement. I would have totally ignored her. Pretending you don't hear people is a crucial skill I have learned over the years.

  • I would think she was saying you are pretentious with that many outer wears. Donate some to the needy.

^^^Just because Pioneers don't have 3 coats does not mean you have to be RUDE!!

  • Not strange at all!

Answer by older at 10:55 AM on Nov. 7, 2013

  • my kids have so many freaking coats...thanks to my MIL. our weather is different in every season so mine have 3 different coats too. Fall's is a light, but wind proof jacket, Winter is a big heavy parka like coat, and Spring is a heavier than Fall, rain proof jacket.

i got weird comments when i moved to OK about having too much outerwear. having lived in Alaska, having the right outerwear is important! whats wrong with being comfortable no matter what the weather?!
