Can I boil and mash potatoes now for a recipe I'm making in 3 hours?

Or would that ruin it? Shepherds pie I think I am making.

  • LOL!
You can't mess shepard's pie up! Just make them more solid than you think they should be, when it comes time to put the thing in the oven, add some extra milk or cream, it will make them able to spread easier, I have no idea what PW is talking about, lol!

  • You could do it now and use them later. If I'm not mistaken, Shepherds pie is many times made with leftovers.

  • I don't see why not. Just put them in the refrigerator after they cool off a bit and until you were to make the rest of the recipe.

  • Yes, if you are then baking it in the oven, just be sure to go less than normal on the milk, when you put them in the pie, add a bit more and then spread to make the pie, can I please come over for dinner?

  • Sure you can. Just reheat them when you want to make them; they're easier to mash hot.

  • Put a towel on the bottom of the plate. It keeps it drier.
