Have any of you ever used Mederma?

I'm wondering if it's worth the money. I'd like to use something on my son's scars from his stomach surgery.
He looks like he got stabbed 4 times, lol

  • I know someone who used it and found it lessened the appearance of the scar. Have you tried vitamin E applied directly on the scar?

  • buy the vit. E capsules, break them open and apply directly to the scar...that is what I've seen recommended by plastic surgeons and derms.

  • Any oil that doesn't irritate him (vit. e is unlikely to be a problem) massaged into the scars a few times daily will help. It's the frequency of massage that has the most effect with a post-surgical scar like that.

  • Was it laporoscopic surgery? If so, eventually the scars will fade & almost disappear. I'd keep the areas moisturized & try Vitamin E like tntmom1027 recommended.

  • Vitamin E, or Medeerma, and LOTS of sunblock whenever the scar is exposed is what I was told by a Dermatologist for my DS scar on his face and it has faded quite a bit over time.
