I'm so proud of myself.

So I suck at baking but I keep trying. Finally my cookies were decent. They weren't amazing but they were edible so I feel like the past 8 years of not giving up means something lol so I want to ask for your recipie for chocolate chip cookies. I still am missing the sweet factor I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm going to try again today.

  • I just follow the recipe on the Tollhouse Choc chip bag...BUT...Instead of real butter, I substitute margarine. The cookies turn out so much better!

This is the only time I use margarine.

  • Every time I make cookies they always turn out hard. : ( I need to learn the secret to making soft cookies. I will have to try margarine.

Good for you on your cookie making. I'm sure the final product is yummy either way. : )

  • Don't cook them as long. Keep an eye on them.

  • Take them out a minute or two before they feel and look done or when you usually take them out. They harden a bit after they cool.

  • Lower the oven temp or take them out early. Just like anything in the oven it continues to cook a bit after taken out.

  • Do not EVER give up. I used to hate cooking and sucked at it... then I realized it was because no matter what I ate my ex compared it to his moms cooking. They used to laugh at me about my cooking. After my divorce, I found out I really enjoyed cooking and am pretty darn good at it. It just takes practice, time and patience. When it comes down to it, what's the worst that can happen? I love to experiment with food now. I never follow recipes to a "t".....
