  • Show that she's important to you, by focusing on listening to her, clearly caring about her perspective (prioritizing understanding it, even in times of conflict), and taking her seriously.

    Notice when you're feeling conditional (when your love & approval are conditional on her behavior) and reflect on how conditional love really undermines a secure attachment, and affects the parent-child bond. Just bringing awareness to how many times we feel unaccepting/rejecting, or when our love depends on how the child is acting, can make us more mindful, and able to change in positive ways.
