Who wants to play...guess that auto repair quote?

Ford Taurus

Front right tye rod, inner and outer pads, rotors, tire rotation and alignment

Front brakes

Heat issue, they are pretty sure a flush coolant and replace the reservoir will do it

Guess what estimate is?

  • A couple of questions first. So, it's the right tie rod, replace front pads and rotors (replacing rotors, not resurfacing), rotate tires and alignment, coolant flush.

If so, I'm guessing in the $1300 range.

He said coolant flush and res. replacement.. 230
Front tye rod right, inner outer pads, rotors... 250
    Front brakes 240

  • I don't understand. The front brakes should be the pads and rotors. Inner and outer pads? I'm confused. A set of pads comes in a quantity of 4 pads. 2 pads for each side (inner and outer). Your front brake job should be the pads and rotors. That's it.

Tie rod replacement should be it's own thing. Why are they charging you to rotate tires when they will already have two of them off to do the brake job?

Alignment is it's own thing. I guess if they include the cost of rotating tires in the cost of the alignment there isn't much you can do about that.

Brakes price of $240 seems low to include rotors, but I am not all that familiar with Ford parts and service.
Why does the coolant reservoir need to be replaced? I'm guessing it's leaking?
