Being an Adult?

If you could vote to pick the legal age of adulthood.

The legal age of buying cigarettes.

The legal age to buy and drink alcohol.

Legal are to vote.

Legal age to go into the Military.

What age would you pick?

I think all of them should be the same age.  So even though I think 18 is to young I will pick that age.  I would prefer 21.

If you're going to serve your country and survive, you should be able to have a frickin beer to celebrate it.

  • 25. Your brain is not done maturing until 25, so between 18 and 25, you're essentially a diminished capacity adult, but given all the same responsibility.

  • I did all of those at 18 so I think that is a good age.

But we all know how extraordinarily amazing I am so maybe 35 for everyone else LOL.

    No Seriously, 18.

  • I'd say 21 for all of those things. They say your brain isn't even done developing until you're in your early 20's, and if you can't drink until you're 21 you shouldn't be old enough to risk your life in the military.

  • Well, I suppose if you can go into the military at eighteen, then you should be allowed to vote as well. If you are asked to die for your country, then you ought to have a voice in how it is run. And if you are old enough to risk your life, then you are old enough to have a drink or a smoke to relieve your stress in the process. I would rather se all of those choices delayed till twenty-one, but since conscription, poverty, and many other life circumstances don't always let that happen, then eighteen it is.
