This is NOT a pregnancy question

It might be worse
it is a car repair

i just got my 99 car back
it got new brakes, new tie rod, rotors, and coolant fluid reservoir flushed and replaced
driving home and hear a sound
exactly like- air pressure released
it was loud
it was a little frightening as i quickly checked to make sure brakes were working- YES
a few blocks from home- thank goodness
i then cranked the heat full blast, it was still hot but seemed not to be blowing
home- called repair joint- not open, will call first thing in am

what do you think it is?

i am guessing a hose that is connected to the heating/coolant thing came off
i peeked under car but it is dark and will peek in am

should i be safe and take daughter to school in another car (borrowed)
meaning - could it be something with the brakes?

after i take it back in and they find issue and fix at no cost to me (watch me insist)

  • Look in the morning for any fluid leaking, if there is borrow a new car, sounds like they got something messed up. What was the grand total?

  • I would be concerned about a coolant leak since that's what they just worked on. Look under the car when you have some light and see if there is a green puddle underneath. Where was the temp gauge when you finally got home? Pop hood in the morning to see if it has antifreeze.

Did you smell anything when you got out of the car at home? Like anything that smelled like dead fish or something sweet like syrup?

  • And did you check the tires to make sure you didn't have a flat? Sometimes it can take a little time for a tire to lose air from a puncture.

  • 2 blocks after sound
and i smelled sweet like syrup

  • i have had flats

  • Sounds to me like either a hose popped off or there is a leak. To be on the safe side, I would borrow someone else's car.
The sweet like syrup smell was the antifreeze.

Put a piece of cardboard under the car so you can see the color of the fluid better.
