My 13 year old daughter smells bad, need suggestions

She showers twice a day and sometimes will smell bad with in an hour of the shower. She uses soap and deodorant, any suggestions on what to do. I've had conversations with her about cleaning well, but it does not seem to be helping.

  • I have acne rosacea and oily skin and had acne when younger too. I've always had a BO problem. I need frequent showers, clinical strength deodorant and I can't wear sleeveless shirts. Its my theory that people with oily skin and acne have a stronger odor than those who don't. There's no scientific evidence to support this that I know of but I've lived it and that's enough evidence for me. If your Dr doesn't find a medical reason then she may just have to be overly vigilant about hygiene.

  • QM. Add one more....

Take her to the doctor. Odor can be a sign of a health issue

  • Is it feminine odor? Maybe a douche? Best bet is taking her to the Dr. for a complete check-up. GL

  • Have you tried clinical strength deodorant? What about looking into her diet and eliminating odiferous foods?

  • I tried different deodorants and have her using a clinical strength one currently. I buy her good quality soaps and try to stay away from the overly scented ones (she also has bad acne). Diet is hard with a picky teenager, but she does take a multivitamin everyday and iorn supplements for anemia. I guess it's time for a dr appointment.

  • You might do some research on Google too, like this link below with 22 ideas on body odor.  But definitely get a doctor's opinion.  GL

  • Maybe it's her shoes or something. Maybe you have a washing machine that smells funky and even clean clothes smell sour.
