  • If you have medical insurance through the state, why do you have to pay $600? Is $600 your deductible for the year?

  • Wow. What kind of doctor are you seeing that charges $600 for an office visit?

  • Do you have a medical card (or insurance card)? If so, there should be a phone number on the back of it. You should call that number and ask them if you have a deductible and how much that is and what kind of visits are applied toward the deductible. Sometimes normal physicals and annual exams are covered at a higher percent. Sometimes they aren't. You should call and find out though. I don't know that anyone here can help you with what you want to know.

What happens if you get in a serious car wreck or become seriously ill and have a hospital bill worth $50,000 or more? How will you pay it? You won't. You will either file bankruptcy or default on it and then other people are left paying higher prices for medical care because someone didn't have insurance and couldn't pay their bill.

  • You need insurance so when some asshole on bath salts takes a bite out of your face, you can have plastic surgery, antibiotics, and therapy, and the rest of us aren't stuck paying your bill.

You have a $600 deductible. That's what you pay out of pocket. Once you have paid that $600, MOST (if not all) of the remaining expenses are paid. You should have paperwork or a booklet that came with your card that explains all this.

Health comes first. You're no use to your daughter dead or dying from something simple and treatable.

  • You have to have it because Obama says so. It sounds like you are paying a deductible. You pay those until the deductible is met. Then insurance will kick in.
If you are not in a healthcare plan you will pay the fine.

  • Are you in Indiana? You might have HIP, which isn't medicaid, but a HSA you are required to pay into and which won't cover a lot of things until you've spent X amount of money first.
