USPS question?

Have you ever tracked a package you've mailed and wondered why in the world it's in xyz considering it should be going in the opposite direction? How does a package shipped from Alabama going to Texas end up in Greensboro, NC? I guess I should be calling USPS customer service. That just seems crazy to me.

  • Interesting. Maybe that's why USPS is broke.

  • They follow a route. A mailing facility will have a truck going out towards you in Texas, but there may not be a truck going out towards you in a closer state.

Package is just hitching a ride to hitch another ride girl.

  • When I lived in west TX, most flights went thru Dallas, even going to California.

Hubs and distribution centers set the route. It's a lil crazy, but it is most efficient for them.

I understand that, but going from AL to NC then to TX seems a bit extreme.

  • that happens a lot to the stuff we get in OKC...everything goes to Dallas first, even if its headed north. and then from there we've had packages go to Chicago before going to New Orleans...seems they need a better system haha.
