Uh oh! What can I add to give my chili some texture?

I asked my boyfriend to get me kidney beans from the store last weekend. I found out when I opened the can just now that he got refried beans. The mashed up kind without the whole beans left in them. So now I've got a crockpot of baby food going for dinner. It does have bits of ground beef and green chilies and chunks of peppers and stewed tomatoes, but it's not chili. I've got no mor beans in the house. I've got no baking potatoes to serve this over. We ate rice last night already. I could use the "put it in your mouth and don't bitch because you didn't read the shopping list" tactic, but I'd rather leave that as a last resort. What can I add to give this dish some texture? I guess I could dump it over French fries with cheese, but it sounds kind of gross and desperate ...

  • I like the "eat it and don't complain" approach myself... but corn would be okay.

  • I would put the refried beans in also any carrots celery whatever, you could blend up some of it to make it thicker.

  • Do you have any frozen fries or tater tots? You could serve it as chili fries, or over cornbread.

  • Why not make it a sort of chili sloppy joe and put it over biscuits?

  • lots of chili has no beans you need to blend some of it up in the blender to thicken.
