My dog just got neutered and vaccinated (rabis shot). The very next day his breath stunk of fish. Thoughts?

He is a 4 month old mutt (predominately beagle) who just got fixed and never had breath issues. It was the very next day that he smelled of awful fish and has smelled since. He still has his cone on his head, his butt doesn't smell, and everything else seems okay wit him. He is not on any medications and his food is exactly the same as before his surgery. Anyone know what this is and/or how to fix it?

  • Seems weird. I'd ask his vet just in case there could be an infection inside him or something.

  • Yeah, I thought it was really strange to occur the very next day. Thanks for your response.

  • It could be a reaction to the anesthesia they used to put him under. Just let your vet know and keep an eye on it. If it persists take him in.
