  • Call 211 for social services in your area; they can help you. Check with church groups. It's very late to be getting anything for Christmas though; most holiday aid signups had to be completed back in October.

  • Try craigslist or freecycle. I just gave away an artificial prelit 6' tree on freecycle.

  • You can always improvise a tree. Get strands of lights at the dollar store if you don't already have some. Pin them to the wall in the shape of the tree and have kids make paper ornaments with glitter and tape them up. It can be quite cute

  • thrift stores will have them pretty cheap- or even wal mart has cheap ones

    you could always do what a friend of my dad's did one year, he went out and got a giant tumbleweed and put lights one it
