Out of kitty litter

I'm out of kitty litter and can't go to the store until tomorrow or Tues. What can I use as temporary kitty litter for a day or so? (Don't laugh. I've never had a cat before).

  • If you absolutely have to use dirt or something... clean it very often. It's going to reek, and reek badly.

  • You don't have any left in the litter box at all? Do you clean it daily?

I've heard some people say you can use finely shredded newspaper but, like Ginger said, that's going to reek. You'd have to replace it every time your cat uses the box.

  • DO you have those wood pellets that come in 50# bags? They're supposed to be for the stove/heating source for houses. It's JUST like feline pine, a type of litter, but is WAY cheaper.

  • Like Brawn said, shredded newspaper. That's what they tell you to use after getting a cat de-clawed. But it will be stinky and very messy when you have to clean it.

  • Rip up newspaper and put it in the box. It is soft on the paws and is good for temporary until you can get to the store.

  • Dirt. That's what we always used whenever we ran out.
