Do you tip installers or delivery people?

Like handymen or people that come and do either repairs or improvements? If so, how do you tip them? Just a certain amount, or do you tip them a percentage of their labor?

  • It depends. If it were a contracted job to build on a room or something, no. However, if I do throw in a little extra for the guys that do the gutters because I haggle with them on price. Same with when I had a guy do some yard work, a little extra since he did a great job.

  • It is my understanding that you are supposed to because they perform a service.
If you think about it so does everyone else who works including your land lords.
I do not. They are paid to do a service. I pay for shipping and handling (or someone does)

If I were a person who does a business out of my home or for some reason got deliveries every week, I might consider a small gift card to a donut/coffee, etc. joint.

I do not tip my postal worker either.
