Sharpie marker on my kitchen counters

Uggggghhhhhh- My 4 year old took a sharpie and colored on a napkin on the kitchen counter while my SO was watching her.

Yeah. Bled through. So far pledge did nothing and vinegar did nothing.

I don't know the material of the counters but I know there's a finish on them, a clear coat of sorts.

What do I try? I don't have a magic eraser in the house right now.

  • Get some barkeepers friend. Dampen the counter and sprinkle it on and leave it for a couple of minutes and the scrub it should come right off. It works on koolaid stains and the ink from a grocery bag or receipt too. I think it is about $1.99
    It is a powder.

  • Alcohol works every time. We use it at work to remove ink stains. We have white counters.

  • All good suggestions. And might I add, next time she's feeling artistic, Crayola Washable markers are better than Sharpies for children. Yeah, I know, hindsight is 20/20. lol ;p Hope you get it off.

  • GoJo, or any pumice hand cleaner works, and it won't damage your counter. Just put it on a rag and rub the marks off.
