Past the due date?

I heard someone say you always go past your due date with your first...
Is this true?...
Have any women gone before their due date with their first?

  • everyone is diff i did go past my due date with my first but my friend sara had her first a day early ive had about 5 friends that have gone before their due dates i was the loan ranger going 4 days past its no big deal because your due date can be wrong by about 2 weeks in either direction

  • Many go past. It is only an estimated date, and can be off by 2 weeks in either direction. Even ultrasound cannot pinpoint the date you conceived. It is only a guess.

  • I had my first son at exactly full-term at 37 weeks on the dot according to my due date. I'm going on 37 weeks with my second pregnancy at the moment hoping I am so lucky again, lol!

  • I delivered on my due date. It is only an estimation and the baby will come when it is darn good and ready. I am sorry about that and I understand that you are miserable.

  • I was 2 1/2 weeks before my due date and 3 days past my due date with my second. It just depends. Everyone told me the same thing so I was totally not expecting to go so early!

  • I went four days past my due date, however all of my friends were early with their firsts. My SIL was also late with her first.

I think it just depends on the woman and pregnancy. I don't put any stock into those old wives tales, but they are fun to hear about, LOL :)

  • I would have if I hadn't been silly enough with my first to allow an induction. I always go past my due date. I'm currently 6 days past and it's likley I still have another few days left.

  • No, everyone is different. My first was actually born at 38w0d, my second at 39w1d, and my third right on my edd. Essentially, your edd is an estimate- most people deliver within two weeks of their edd. It's a ballpark figure. I have heard it said that first time moms are more likely to go past, but obviously it does not happen to everyone.
