Eating out the night before my Physical?

My in laws wants to get together tomorrow night to eat out at a steakhouse where we will be eating steak, baked potatoes, salad, and rolls. I got a physical with blood work on Tuesday morning. Will it be bad to eat out the night before my Physical? I am just thinking that by eating out, i will eat far more than i would normally eat at home, plus all the high fat & sodium in the food.

  • The most basic struff is to avoid food that can impact your any blood tests such as a A1C test for diabetes, or mess with your heart rate. Don't drink any alcohol because it can rise your liver enzymes. Avoid caffeine the day of your test because it can raise your blood pressure, no smoking because its been said that can make drawing blood more difficult.

  • Knowing this you might pick something lighter on the menu to eat and watch your alcohol intake. But it really should not be a problem. Blood work is fasting from midnight, right?

  • If you have a cholesterol test for your one of the blood tests, will skew that result if you eat meat OP. What kinda blood work does your doc want OP?

  • You could always choose grilled chicken or salmon instead of red meat.

  • Should not be a problem as long as you fast the full 12 hours before the blood draw. Make sure you drink plently of water through out the night.

  • You're food should be digested by then or the Dr would have ordered no food or meat the day before. That's why they order npo after midnight and no fluids the morning of the physical.

  • Usually they give you fasting instructions before blood work is done.

  • Tell them what is happening the next day and only eat a small amount.
Most fasting blood test are that you have to not eat 12 hours before testing. So if itis before 12 hours. It is not a big deal what you eat.
