Not a resolution, just an idea

I want to come up with some new things to cook this year, especially since I'll be home to do more of the cooking at dinner time for a while. So I'm thinking, make a list of things I've never tried before, or only had once in a while at restaurants. Right now I'm looking at bread and pasty recipes from different countries, and thinking I might expand that to regular food, too. Growing up, I ate "kid friendly" Indian food at my friends' house, but their mom toned it down a lot, especially for me. Thinking I want to try a few adult-strength things.

Here are my first 2 "missions":

Anyone else want to add their own "not a resolution"?  Or any suggestions for new things to try?

  • I took a cooking class while in Italy and learned how to make my own pasta, It's fan-freakin-tastic especially with a cheap hand rolled pasta roller, I think you should add make your own pasta to your list (Unless that's not knew for you)
I also like to try things as an adult that I hated or found disgusting as a child to see if my tastes are still the same, I now LOVE brussel sprouts mm mm good, so maybe try something as an adult that you know you hated or refused to try as a kid.

  • I'd like to learn a lot more Greek recipes. They're really vegetarian friendly and there is so much to choose from. Dolmadakia has a million different variations and now that I live in a more urban area the ingredients shouldn't be so hard to find.

Breads are always fun for me (as you know) so I am always looking for something new to try.

  • We do pasta, but thanks.  Want the add on for the Kitchen Aid, maybe for DH's birthday

I can't decide if I'm brave or stupid, but I was considering actually working my way through the entire list (minus the pop tarts):

  • I'd like to make any of the 8000 things I've pinned on Pinterest - especially pastries/pretzels! I also want to journal more... we'll see if that happens!

Please post pictures when you make Kürtőskalács over an open fire. :D

That list is amazing. I just told my daughter we should do the same; make all of them over the year

  • Those don't look that hard:

They one I'll avoid as long as possible is the croquembouche.  It's a staple of the later rounds on UK and Australia Masterchef, and nobody ever finishes the whole thing.

  • Have you tried any Turkish cuisine? Here are a couple of blogs. I love the food! Of course, it's not the same as my MIL, but you might be interested:
