  • For New Year's Day? It varies but we always have black eyed peas. I never get good luck from them but traditions die hard :)

  • My DH keeps saying he's going to make hoppin john because I've never had it and I've never heard of it before he told me about it, but he hasn't yet.

  • Menudo and tamales. Although we make the menudo with pork stew meat instead of tripe now that the grandparents are gone.

  • Oh, and we always left out the pigs' feet, even when the grandparents were around.

Answer by Ballad at 12:19 AM on Dec. 31, 2013

  • I might eat that menudo. I've never tried it because of the tripe.

  • What the hell is hoppin john?

I just have a traditional hangover, and don't feel like eating. LOL

Answer by PartyGalAnne at 12:24 AM on Dec. 31, 2013

  • I don't have any traditional meals, I just go with something that sounds good. This year we're having lasagna, salad, and garlic breadsticks since we missed our traditional Christmas Eve lasagna meal.

Growing up we always had corned beef and cabbage, along with black eyed peas for good luck.
