Too much pepper in my crockpot soup?

Wayyyyyy too much pepper. Burns my mouth.

I have tried lemon juice and sugar to no avail

Can anything save it? It is black bean soup.

  • Cheese and sour cream, you could add some rice to it to absorb, as in pepper do you mean like jalepeno or as in black pepper?

  • Can you add more broth to tone it down? It'll be soupier than expected, but it might help.

  • If you get too much salt in a soup, you can put a half a raw potato in and cook the soup a bit longer. The potato will absorb some of the salt as it cooks. I have absolutely no idea if it will work with pepper or not, but it couldn't hurt to try.

  • Thinking maybe blending it with sour cream at the end? So sad.

  • LOL

Black ground pepper. The sifter got away from me!

The sugar seems to be cutting it now. The pepper is like IN the beans though. lol. Spicy spicy!

  • False alarm. Sugar and lemon juice worked. Still spicy but edible. Thinking about adding a chicken breast. SO is making a different dinner anyways.

  • I don't think a potato would soak up pepper.
