Do working moms make you feel like you are not a "modern woman" because you are a SAHM?

  • I have three SIL's and sometimes I feel like they think I should be sitting at the kids table...

  • No, working moms don't make me feel bad about myself or anything. Sometimes I'm jealous of the social interaction that I feel deprived of as a SAHM, but I wouldn't change my decision. I love my son and wouldn't want to be anywhere but at home with him. I'd feel guilty. I'm sure I'll return to the workforce after my kids are in school.

  • Technically I work from my house to earn money, but a lot of people make me feel as though because I don't actually get up before the sun, put on a business suit, drive an hour, and deal with office politics that what I do is somehow not as "grown up". So yes...even if they don't intentionally make me feel less modern or professional; when people say things like "It must be so much easier being at home with your kid while you work. You're so lucky!" sometimes...I want to force them to be me for a day!!!

  • Oh, and it would be the same if I did not have a money making job. I did not for the first half year my daughter was here...and I still got that all the time. "You have it sooo easy. I wish I stayed home all day with my kids and played with them 24/7" Pfft.

  • It must be harder I would think!!! So much distractions and so much temptation to just go play with your kids. Easier because you don't feel guilty about leaving them but harder to get stuff done. Sometimes I can't even clean my house, I can imagine trying to get work done too...
