  • Where I live they have to be 4. My oldest in 1st grade didn't go, but my 4 yr old is now and loves it. I have a 3 yr old who has a fit to go to school but cant until he's 4.

  • My first two did then I learned it was a total waste. My 5 year old didn't and my other younger kids won't either.

  • Most states are beginning to have free pre-k for all 4 year olds. They may also have preschool for 3 year olds. Kindergarten is so tough were we live that all children really need some type of preschool experience for at least 1 year before Kindergarten. If your child goes to a daycare now or a sitter where there are other kids his age, then one year of Pre-k would be sufficient.

  • I tried to get my daughter in but they wouldn't let her yet. I have been unofficially homeschooling her throughout her life. She will start preschool this November 2009 when she turns 4.
