Cartoonists need to walk on eggshells for Obama

Do you agree? Do you think cartoonists should have to tip toe around Obama, or should he be fair game like all the other politicians?

  • It was a cartoon, get real and grow up. I have seen plenty of cartoon skits that make fun of one politician or another and nobody makes a big deal about those. This country makes way too big of a deal about EVERYTHING anymore, its pathetic!

  • I agree that racism is never okay. But I also think that cartoonists are holding back from fear of being labelled racists, attacked in the media and losing their jobs. If they draw Obama as anything other than a picture perfect portrait someone somewhere is going to call them racists. His lips are too big, his nose is too wide - so the cartoonist must be a kkk card carrying racist. I don't think cartoonists are free to express their views when it comes to him. Everyone knows that you risk being labelled a racist for simply not agreeing with Obama. So surely, making fun of him is dangerous stuff.

  • Fair game, racist or not. he's black and white, they can pick on both sides. They used ageism against McCain and Dole, and Dukakis' short stature.

As for the monkey cartoon, when I first saw it I thought "Yep, that's congress!" CONGRESS wrote the stupid thing, not Obama.
