How do I find/apply for government grants?

I am trying to find government grants for my husband. Him and a friend are wanting to start up a business. I know of the website but I don't understand how it works. I have tried to figure it out before and I am always COMPLETELY lost!!! Any help?

  • There really aren't any grants for this anymore. Instead, seek out a small business loan.

  • Try, but of course check with the bbb and other creditable resources first.

  • isn't the right website---that's for research grants and research procurement contracts (and it sucks!). The Small Business Administration (SBA) is the Federal agency that gives small business grants. Look at for information on grants and other programs that help people start up their businesses.
