Does anyone know the words to this song?

In the late 60s, I was taught a song that included the lyrics, "Just plant a watermelon on top of my grave & let the juice slurp (may not be slurp) through". As slurp was sung, we made a slurping noise. Of course that may have just been an addition by the troop leader. That's all I can remember. We sang it in 4-H club. The leader has since passed on, so I can't ask her & I've wanted to know the rest of the song for years! I hope someone can help. Thanks so much!!

  • Watermelon Song
Oh, plant a watermelon vine upon my grave
And let the juice (slurp slurp) seep through
Oh, plant a watermelon vine upon my grave
That's all I ask of you

Now mama makes a chicken, and she makes it mighty fine
But it doesn't compare to my watermelon vine

So plant a watermelon vine upon my grave
And let the juice (slurp slurp) seep through.

    That's the one I found at http://www.story-lovers.com/listswatermelonstories.html

  • Just plant a watermelon . . .

Just plant a watermelon right on my grave,

That's all I ask of you

And let the juice slipppppppp through

Just plant a watermelon right on my grave,

    That's all you need to do . . .

Well southern fried chicken might taste mighty fine,

Nothing tastes better than a watermelon rind,

Just plant a watermelon right on my grave

And let the juice ssssssslllllllllllllllllllip through . . .

  • Hey, everyone. I'm SORRY! I'm still very new to the world of computers & it didn't even occur to me to research it that way. I very much appreciate you taking the time to find the lyrics & sending them to me!
