How much formula a day or per feeding should my 5 month old get?

Ever since I stopped breast feeding I feel so unsure of the average or normal amount for formua from month to month. Any advice is appreciated!!

  • Mine got 6oz every 3 hours or so. I just feed on demand.

  • It depends on the weight of your child and calorie content of your formula, but about 35-50 oz, based on 15-18 lbs.

  • That's over the course of the day, of course! =)

  • Feed on demand, still. Start with about 6oz and go from there. If he doesn't drink it all, cut back an ounce. If he drinks it and acts like he could take more...give more.

At 5 months, mine were taking about 8oz every 2-3 hours (plus baby food and cereal). They were averaging 45-50oz per day. That's a LOT.
