What do you feed your 8 month old?

My 8 month old DD is still mainly on formula, and I give her one fruit and one veggie a day as well. But I want to start giving her real chunks of food. Is it still too early? She still doesn't have any teeth. What kind of foods do you recommend?

  • Small pieces of soft foods - ripe avocados, bananas, sweet potato, carrots, macaroni, etc. You might also ask your doctor or Google 'healthy baby foods' for ideas.

  • Exactly what silverthreads said! Indeed, skip the spoon altogether.

  • Animal crackers, sticks of steamed fruits and veggies, chicken chunks, small buttered noodles, little bites of whatever we're having for dinner..
If you're hesitant about chunks of food at first, try a mesh feeder.
My almost 8 month old didn't like them, but yours might!
