can i get child support, while im getting unemployment or do i need a real job???

i want to be a stay at home mom when my baby is born, and later when i need to get out the house ill get a real job or go back to school.
im thinking about doing online courses or something for school, or maybe working at home.
currentally im getting unemployment, but plan to file for child support as soon as the baby is born. can i get child support while im getting unemployment? or do i need to have some sort of job to be able to get child support?

  • You don't have to have a job to get child support-that is for the child.

    But you should get a job if you can find one.

  • Child support is something you get from the other parent of your child. Whether or not you are working has nothing to do with it. The courts will decide based on what the non-custodial parent is making. If you aren not married to the childs father you will likely have to submit DNA tests, depending on the state you're in.. Are you meaning public assistance?

  • Child support is for the children.. it has no basis on if you work or not.
