Large preschool or home daycare environment?!

My daughter is 3.5, and very energetic and outgoing. She was in a home daycare with fewer than 5 other children at our previous duty station, and has been out of a daycare environment for 6 months now. I was wondering if it would be best to reintroduce her into a large preschool (on post) for military children, or if it would be better to place her in a smaller home environment (off post). Have you guys had better luck in small or large? Pros and Cons of each?

  • Most children really arnt good at handleing more children then their age. Meaning that if the child is 3yo they do best in a group with 3 other children. And think about the benefits for smaller classes in the elementary and high school settings. Those same benefits apply to pre-school as well. In a large day care she has a chance of getting lost in the crowd. ...just be careful where you place her no matter what decision you make.

  • home environment is fine, but i think you need to look at the ages of the other children who attend. My ds went to one the first 3 1/2 yrs., then he outgrew it when he became the oldest one there. he was almost 4 when we changed daycares. He was in a class of 16 children all the same age and did fine.
