How many carbs in a day?

I am used to doing calorie counting to lose weight (1500 cals a day) but I've never specifically counted carbs. Does anyone know a good limit?

  • i would say about 120-180 grams

  • For a non diabetic the 120-180 range is pretty reasonable. I, as a type 2 diabetic try to stick to about 100 grams. But it's also not just the amount of carbs in a day but the kind of carbs that are important. Such as switching from white bread to whole grain. White bread wrappers almost always say "enriched" on them. This is because the process of making the grain white strips everything good about the grain in the first place away, so they attempt to put it back in.

    Switching from white staches to whole grains and fiber rich veggies like broccoli and beans are the best choices to make for your daily carb intake!
