  • Usually they start out at 2oz about every 2hrs, and then they increase this amount, but not the frequency.

  • it really depends on the baby. By the time my son was 1.5 months old, he was already up to 6oz every 3 hours. My daughter, she ate like a bird.

  • How quickly do you go through a $20 can of powdered formula?

  • Mine (and most are this way) ate 2oz every 2hours.
But once he was 1month he was eating 3oz. At the hospital they'll tell ya 2oz n they'll pri only let you give your baby 2oz every 2hrs or when she/he wants it if its longer than 2. But if when you get home your baby isn't going an hour..give your baby 3oz. It all depends on your baby! Good luck!

  • your average is 400 dollars or more a year. Thank god I can nurse.. I priced formula when Becka was born and we saved around 600 dollars her first year. She ate a lot.

  • I went through 1-2 cans a week. At first, it was because she (then later, a he) wasn't eating very much, but I still wanted to offer it. Later, because they ate like pigs!

  • If you are on WIC, you should get 9 cans per month. That was always plenty for my DD. I never had to buy extra, and she ate A LOT! But I know that 9 cans (here in alabama) was over $110.00 a month.

  • Formula is SOOOO expensive, OMG!
Ive nursed all 3 of my kids not only because its the best thing to feed them but because breastmilk is FREE and we would have gone totally broke trying to buy formula.
Im not trying to preach at you but have you even considered using the free milk God gave you? With the proper education and support, breastfeeding can be a very positive experience!
Good luck either way, currently im nursing #3 and honestly, we would have to take out a loan in order to afford formula, its THAT expensive!
