  • yes. ...look at the phrase "i before e except after c" ...well, unless you're spelling the word weird. there are exceptions to everything.

  • The "i before e" rule has more to it:

    "I" before "E", except after "C", or when sounding like "A" as in "neighbor" and "weigh"

    It's one of the rhyming rules that I remember from grade school English.
