When you drive by a dead skunk in the road, why does it take about 10 seconds before you smell it? Assume that you did not actually drive over the skunk.

  • Hmmm.....I can actually smell a skunk, dead or alive, well before I come upon it. Their potency is quite different, of course. Living out in the country, my nose tends to be more attuned to these sorts of things, I suppose.
