Gift for Baptism?

A good friend of mine's son is being baptized on Sunday. What is an appropriate gift? I am not Godmother... nor am I very religious. Is a card and check ok? If so, how much? If not, what kind of gift?

  • A card with a check is fine as a gift since your friend can use the money to buy what the baby needs. How much depends on how close a friend she is, But no more than 50$ is fine. If you want to get the baby something you can always buy a gift basket with a bunch of items in it already. These baskets can go for 25$ to 50$ as well, but they hold everything from diapers and cloths to a teddy and sleepers. Then again you can always ask your friend what she would prefer as a gift. Enjoy the celebration with your friend and her family .

  • A check or a savings bond. Give only as much as your feel comfortable with.

  • Most people don't bring gifts to a baptism. Cards are very appropriate. Usually the people who bring gifts are Godparents, grandparents, close family.
