  • Here is an average fetal weight/length chart:

Your baby is probably considered on the larger size of average but not an abnormal weight at all. My son always measured/weighed slightly big for his gestational age. Ultrasound machines issue guessed weights based on measurements they're able to obtain. They're not always 100% acurate.

  • Yes its so confusing, at my last appointment the doc said i wasnt to big or small, i dont know exctally what that means, thats why im wondering if my baby weight is ok, ive already gained 24 pounds, im just wondering if there is a way to tell if im going to have a big baby or smaller.

  • Ultrasound can help you determine if you're having a larger baby. Your uterus measuring large for how many weeks along can also indicate a larger baby. The size you and your husband were born at can also give you a hint of what size your own child will be like.

I don't know my birth weight/height because I am adopted and it was never passed on in my adoption files. My husband was 8lbs 3 oz so we figured we'd have a larger baby. Our son ended up being 9lbs 6.3oz...ouch!

  • Keep in mind ultrasound measurements get further and further off as your pregnancy progresses. The only way to really know what your baby's weight is is to have it! =)

  • that sounds about right. but, still I wouldn't rely fully on the ultrasounds. they told me my daughter was going to be 9 pounds, she was 7.5. They can be off by 2 pounds + or - a few ounces or so.
