breastfeeding while pregnant?

If nipple stimulation causes contractions when pregnant.. How are women able to nurse at the end of a pregnancy without going into labor?

  • Thats a great question! lol..but I believe its nipple stimulation for 3 to 5 hours that induces labor for some women. At least our babies don't eat THAT much.

  • Hmmm Honestly im not sure I didnt breastfeed past the first trimester because honestly my son was almost 3 and i wanted a short break and to get him weaned before the new baby.

I would be curious to know the answer though.

  • You women have me beat!! I only breastfed my second & only for 3months (milk dried up).. But I have heard of women breastfeeding 2 children at once & wondered how it worked while pregnant.

  • Not sure maybe it just because your body is just used to it so it doesn't do anything????

  • Because the contractions don't mean labor! I had contractions for 3 weeks! I never went into labor. I had to be induced because (and I learned later that (contraction just means that the uterus contracts, doesn't mean the baby wants to come out).

  • Why is it weird? I don't regret doing it 2 of my 3 children breastfed past age two.

  • Ok don't start bashing people who breastfeed past age 2.. This was a simple question. Either answer it or pass the question up.
