the auto industry is a mess. Union workers hired off the street make as much as non-unionized engineers with student loans to pay. Does every 3-employee donut shop or barbershop where the employees make $8.50 an hour need to be unionized? DO YOU THINK BUSINESSES GROW THAT WAY? Need a job? Don't look to small/medium businesses. No jobs there, anymore.

  • Maybe because the union worker has and can get cancer. Also a steel roll can crush and kill them instantly. Engineers read drawings and work mainly in the office. Get a clue about the dangers of a job before you decide if they are worth it. My DH doesn't work at the big 3 but a supplier. He watched as a vistor nearly got killed because he was an office person out of the floor for who knows what and he nearly was rolled to death. My DH daily has to hope the peson in control of the machines/cranes knows what they are doing so they don't injure or kill him.

I have two jobs 1 is a small businesses the other is medical. I could find other jobs too. Mainly because the CEO doesn't sit around daily bitching about how bad the economy is and he is proactive in building his company.

  • Come to Coal Mining Country and go underground for a day and work with coal. Then tell me whether you think there should be unions. Or go to the nearest Power Plant and walk steel or pour concrete or work with live electricity. Or go operate a piece of heavy equip. Or go to a new hospital being built and be the laborer that has to carry bags of cement up 10 flights of temporary stairs. The auto industry is not the only unionized industry.

Then there will be no jobs for anyone. They need to make a lot of concessions instead of asking to be subsidized by the taxpayer.
They need to sell their cars at a price to compete in the marketplace and sell cars that people actually want.
If they can't compete w/out having to be subsidized by the taxpayer, they should close down.
Honda and Toyota aren't unionized and are able to make cars that people want to buy.
Being able to put a widget in a hole doesn't make you capable of running a company.
And that's what makes unions mad.
You run a company when you're smarter than the employees, and the smart factor is what p-sses people off.
GOD makes people smarter and lots of people HATE GOD.
