Can loosing more than 2 pounds a week post pregnancy dry up your milk supply if you gained excessive amounts of weight during pregnancy?

  • Are you doing it naturally? Or are you using drugs or other measures to help? Are you dieting? Exercising?

    Losing weight happens naturally when breastfeeding so no it will not diminish your supply. Weight loss is just another wonderful side effect of breastfeeding. BUT if you are using 'helpers' of any sort they may effect your supply it depends on your method of weight loss.

  • I agree with depends on how you lost it. Naturally is fine. Working out is great too. But if you do it by diet pills, or restricting calories your milk will not be safe and/or dry up. I recommend eating healthy but still eating those extra calories your body needs. And by working out.
