Anyone else agree that Obama is trying to "sell" the nation on a 2% Illusion?

On Tuesday, he left the impression that we need merely end "tax breaks for the wealthiest 2% of Americans," and he promised that households earning less than $250,000 won't see their taxes increased by "one single dime."..
Even the most basic inspection of the IRS income tax statistics shows that raising taxes on the salaries, dividends and capital gains of those making more than $250,000 can't possibly raise enough revenue to fund Mr. Obama's new spending ambitions...
Even taking every taxable "dime" of everyone earning more than $75,000 in 2006 would have barely yielded enough to cover that $4 trillion...
The bottom line is that Mr. Obama is selling the country on a 2% illusion. Unwinding the U.S. commitment in Iraq and allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire can't possibly pay for his agenda...
Taxes on the not-so-rich will need to rise as well.

So, those making 50,000 would you be ok with YOUR taxes going up?

  • Between inflation, the price increases that will come in response to businesses and services paying higher taxes that they will pass on to the consumer, and the assorted other taxes states will have to implement to make up for the shortfall that will be created when their stimulus money runs out but the stimulus law changes do not, I would expect everyone to see their "tax rate" double by 2012.

  • Hes been saying this awhile my bigger problem with it is that those who earn $250k or higher already pay for what is it 85% of infrastructure in the United States? Even if he does tax them more how is that fair? Think about that. What is 38% of what you brought home was taxed and now they wanted to take 40%? How would you feel? And it isnt going to just affect that earning scale there will have to be tax increases across the board to bring down the deficit. Hes basically just telling us this to calm us before he puts us to sleep and rapes us for more taxes.

  • Well, Obama is pretty much following in Clinton's footsteps--even taking his advice when it comes to addressing the masses--so it's just more of the same.

The formula he has discovered is: "if you tell people what they want to hear, and do it in a smooooth talking way, people will just fork their money over without batting an eye.

He'd be be much more effective as a cult leader than POTUS!
