  • It's more an issue with nutrition. Cereal has no nurtitional value. Avacados have good fats for brain development and they are a whole food, not a processed one. Babies do not need cereal, ever.

  • RIGHT-O!!!! babies can not actually digest grain until around their 12-18th month of life. the digestive tract has not develloped the proper enzymes to cope with grain until then... "Whole Foods" (unprocessed (treated with heat, or additives, meaning in an unaltered form) are much more easily digested, and more of their nutrients are put to use by the body.
so yes, they're easier on the tummy.... also try using a food mill (hand cranked babyfood grinder, about $10 @ babies r us) for things like ripe pears, berries, apples, etc.... you wanna bump up nutrition a notch and add some Omega 3s? add ground flax... wanna sweeten it up? use unsweetened (non sugared) Dates to the mix, they'll love it! you can lightly steam (never boil) harder vegies and do the same, put them in ice cube trays and freez em for the perfect sized portions of "baby food". non of mine have ever eated from a jar, and they're ALL Vege-holics!
